Volunteering with Giroscope

At the heart of Giroscope’s work is the provision of high quality volunteer and work placement opportunities for a wide range of people. We are able to offer real hands on experience of most of the building trades.

We also give people help with accessing external training and finding employment. Many of our volunteers also go on to live in a Giroscope home – often one that they themselves have helped to renovate. Giroscope provides a supportive work environment to meet the requirements of all abilities and needs.

Our volunteers come to us from a wide range of backgrounds and with a wide range of differing aspirations. These include ex-offenders, long term unemployed, school work experience, people with learning difficulties, university graduates, college students and many more.

If you are interested in volunteering with us please down load a Giroscope_volunteer_registration_form.pdf and either email it to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or return it by post to Unit 3, 23 Arthur Street, Hull, HU3 6BH.

Hi my name is Ed and I came to Giroscope for work experience in 7/4/14 I come from Endeavour high school and I did for 1 week. I have really enjoyed my self-working with volunteers also I had I really good experience for example I didn’t know how to tile but know I do. What I really like about Giroscope is that everyone that works for Giroscope or volunteers they trait each other like family.

Sorry to say but it’s my last day at Giroscope, I will really miss it and I had I great time in Giroscope.

Giroscope's Housing Pledge

  • So long as the conditions of the tenancy are met, you have the right to remain in your home for as long as you wish.
  • Giroscope will not sell your house, or transfer ownership to another landlord so long as you are a tenant of that house.
  • Giroscope will not borrow money against its property in a way that endangers the financial stability of the organisation and puts your home at risk.
